Ronja
Mild steel, copper, rams horns and internal lighting
‘Ronja Rövardotter is a children’s book by Astrid Lindgren. At age 6 this story took over my whole world. I was living in Sweden surrounded by forest and spent most of my days with my sister
and my two older cousins.’Ronja is a sculpture about essential
duality. Its spirit is emerging and dispersing at the same time, organic
yet industrial, cracked and fragile.Ronja represents a primal animistic
energy.
Animism (from the Latin anima,”breath, spirit, life”) is the religious belief that objects, places and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. Potentially, animism perceives all things -animals, plants, rocks, rivers, weather systems, human handiwork and perhaps even words-as animated and alive. (Wikipedia)
